Dance My Culture
Dance My Culture (DMC) is a sister club to Multicultural Club (MCC) that was formed in 2011 to appease the amount of dancers in our school community. Popular dance styles in our school include Bollywood, Salsa, Cumbia, Montenegran, Hip-Hop, Belly Dance, Chutney, Merengue, Bachata, Tradition Mexican Folk, Flamenco, and Cha-Cha. With dance styles from around the world, the multicultural dance show is one of the most highly looked forward to annual school events.
However, this show is impossible to pull off without the hard work of the dancers themselves. The dance groups work tirelessly together for months to perfect their routine down to the second. Together through the frustration and laughs, the girls form new friendships and strengthen old ones.
Not only do the dancers use the club as a means to practice, they also use it as a time to learn new dances, usually from different cultures. After learning their dances we encourage these members to teach others to explore new cultural dances. Learning and teaching theses new dances is only another way for the girls to come together.
The hard work of these girls is always rewarded by the sold out tickets and the strength of applause by the audience at the end of the event. The audience is always fully engaged and is always sad to see the show come to an end.
